Filled with terrifying and suspenseful scenes, If Wishes Could Kill explores a deadly curse that arises from the mysterious Girigo app. The app is said to grant all of its users’ wishes. Unbeknownst to them, people must sacrifice their lives to pay for the fulfillment of those wishes. Five close friends must face this deadly curse after discovering the Girigo app. Some of them fight hard to prevent further deaths caused by Girigo. They are also aided by a shaman who is the older sibling of one of the students.
Of course, the curse isn’t easily broken. A long and dangerous process is required to eliminate the terror of death. Here are the reasons why the Girigo curse is so difficult to destroy.
The unknown origin of the curse
Naturally, the origin of the Girigo curse must be identified if one wishes to destroy it. Yoo Se Ah (Jeon So Young) must find out what the Girigo app actually is and who created it. However, this is no easy task, as the app may have been created a long time ago. However, one by one, the mysteries were finally unraveled. Kang Ha Joon (Hyun Woo Seok) began investigating how Choi Hyeong Wook (Lee Hyo Je) obtained the Girigo app. He was able to do this using his friend’s laptop, which he had repaired. The digital trail led him to discover who had introduced Girigo to Choi Hyeong Wook.
Yoo Se Ah and her team also began to uncover information regarding the origins of the Girigo app. They discovered the location of the Girigo app’s server. Furthermore, they learned the true identities of Do Hye Ryung (Kim Si A) and Kwon Si Won (Choi Joo Eun), as well as what actually happened to them.
The location of the maehyung is unknown
The maehyung is a cursed medium that serves as a link between the human world and the spirit world. The curse can be destroyed if the maehyung is found and destroyed as well. However, no one knows the form of the maehyung being used or its location. The red phone from the spirit world that trapped Yoon Se Ah is suspected of being the curse’s vessel. Discovering the origins of the Girigo curse did bring Yoon Se Ah closer to the maehyung. However, that doesn’t mean the maehyung can be found easily. Moreover, Yoon Se Ah must bring it to Haetsal’s house to be destroyed.
A problem arises because the phone they found turns out not to be the maehyung. It turns out there’s another plot twist regarding the evil spirit responsible for the Girigo curse. As a result, Yoon Se Ah must search for the phone, risking her life alongside Haetsal.
The Power of the Evil Spirit, Which Is Not Easily Defeated
With little time to spare, Yoon Se Ah and Haetsal set out to find the true maehyung in the dark world of the evil spirit. However, this is extremely dangerous, as the evil spirit always prevails in its own realm. Haetsal tries to outwit the true evil spirit so that Yoon Se Ah can locate the cell phone that serves as the vessel for the curse. Unexpectedly, Do Hye Ryung’s spirit turns out to be on Yoon Se Ah’s side. The ghost reveals where the true maehyung is located. Even so, Yoon Se Ah still struggles to find it because she is hindered by Im Na Ri (Kang Mi Na), who has also entered that ghostly realm.
Fortunately, the struggles and sacrifices of Yoon Se Ah and her friends yielded a happy outcome. Maehyung was finally found and successfully destroyed by Yoon Se Ah. This broke the curse, putting an end to the terror of death. However, there is another factor that could allow the Girigo curse to begin anew.
