Seong Hui Ju (IU) is a businesswoman in the beauty industry in the K-drama Perfect Crown (2026). She is known for frequently making headlines in the media. However, when it comes to her work, Seong Hui Ju is completely dedicated and strives to be the best in the country.

It turns out that Seong Hui Ju has possessed this attitude of total dedication in everything she does for a long time. In school, Hui Ju didn’t hesitate to study hard to get perfect grades. Not only that, she also worked hard to be the best in every field she pursued. Hui Ju applies this ambitious attitude to her personal life as well. So, why is Seong Hui Ju so ambitious to achieve something in the K-drama Perfect Crown?

    Warning: This article contains spoilers.

    A Way to Prove Herself

Seong Hui Ju has lived a life far from easy since childhood. She grew up with just her mother for the first 10 years of her life. Not long after that, Seong Hui Ju was abandoned and left in front of a large house said to belong to her father and his legitimate family. After moving in with her father, Hui Ju didn’t receive the love and affection she deserved as a child because she was seen as the family’s downfall. At the time, Seong Hui Ju was completely unaware of her father’s thoughts. She was solely focused on proving herself to earn the same abundance of attention her older sister received.

Unfortunately, her father saw her attitude as greed. He never even acknowledged Seong Hui Ju’s academic achievements.

      To fulfill his own desires

From that moment on, Seong Hui Ju realized that her father had never acknowledged her existence. Yet, Seong Hui Ju was just a child who still needed attention. She didn’t just need material comforts and luxuries to live comfortably. Faced with all these problems, Hui Ju began to understand that no one would ever step in to protect her. She could only protect herself to fulfill her own desires. Under these circumstances, Hui Ju believed she had to do whatever it took—even if it was wrong—to achieve her own goals.

Under these circumstances, Hui Ju was convinced she truly had to do this. Many people looked down on her life simply because of her status as a child born out of wedlock. Yet, all the blame should have fallen on her parents.

        Ways to Survive

After realizing her father isn’t on her side, Seong Hui Ju tries to find ways to survive by any means necessary. She knows her father will try to make her life even harder and push her further away from the company. Yet, she works hard to live comfortably in her own way. Given these circumstances, Seong Hui Ju clearly did her utmost to maintain her former standing. That’s why she sought a way to become a Seong Hui Ju whom others could never look down upon. Her solution was to marry a man of high social standing.

By doing this, Seong Hui Ju realizes that all this time she has indeed been looked down upon because of her social status as a commoner. In reality, compared to those who underestimate her, Seong Hui Ju is far superior in her own abilities. Seong Hui Ju’s ambitious attitude is an effort to save herself. She realizes she has no power and no one who values her as an ordinary human being. Do you think Seong Hui Ju will experience extreme exhaustion after dedicating her entire life to striving for the best in the K-drama Perfect Crown?
