‘If Wishes Could Kill’ Ending Explained

Come to think of it, it’s been a while since most viewers have been satisfied with the ending of a Korean drama. This is especially true for K-dramas that feature horror, thriller, mystery, and gore genres, such as If Wishes Could Kill (2026). Not only is it satisfying, but this drama also leaves the door open for a second season, thanks to its open ending. So you don’t stay in the dark, let’s find out more details about what happens in the ending of If Wishes Could Kill (2026)!

    Warning: This article contains spoilers!

No one else becomes a victim, except for Lim Na Ri’s soul, which is trapped in the Girigo app

The first victim of the Girigo app among the students of Seorin High School’s Class 2-4 was Choi Hyeong Wook (Lee Hyo Je). Although Yoo Se Ah (Jeon So Young), Lim Na Ri (Kang Mi Na), and Kim Geon Woo (Baek Sun Ho) also sent requests through the app, they did not meet a gruesome end. However, Lim Na Ri, who was possessed by Kwon Si Won (Choi Joo Eun), most likely has her soul trapped inside the Girigo app. Therefore, in the ending, Yoo Se Ah expresses regret for not bringing Lim Na Ri out after defeating Kwon Si Won.

Bangwool survived and gained a new ability that will help Haetsal

One of the most heartbreaking scenes near the end is when Bangwool (Jeon So Young) is stabbed by a sharp piece of metal while trying to protect Yoo Se Ah. Although Kang Ha Joon was crying his eyes out, fearing that his sister-in-law had died, Bangwool actually survived. After her eye was injured and she narrowly escaped death, Bangwool’s supernatural powers grew even stronger. Even the scar on Bangwool’s eye transformed, resembling a red, veined contact lens.

Viewers are speculating that if this K-drama returns for a second season, it will likely focus on the story of Bangwool and Haetsal (Jeon So Nee). This is because Bangwool is convinced she can find a way for Haetsal to escape the secluded temple where they’ve been living all this time.

Is Girigo still a cursed app, but with a new owner?

The Girigo curse created by Kwon Si Won has been destroyed, along with the maehyung, the medium of the curse. However, it seems a new curse has been born, with Lim Na Ri’s phone serving as its maehyung. However, the question remains: does the curse actually belong to Lim Na Ri, or is it still Kwon Si Won’s? After all, Lim Na Ri’s body was once possessed by Kwon Si Won. It’s possible that Kwon Si Won managed to escape from the Girigo app and has taken up residence in Lim Na Ri’s body.

However, looking at the username of the person who contacted Min Soo (Lee Seung Joon), it’s possible that Lim Na Ri will revive the Girigo curse. After all, the username 050201, which was highlighted, matches Lim Na Ri’s phone password. In your opinion, does the ending of If Wishes Could Kill (2026) have the potential to serve as a hint for the next season or a spin-off? The reason this K-drama’s ending is satisfying isn’t just because it leaves mysteries to be uncovered, but also because most of the main characters survived.
