The first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has just ended on HBO Max, and it’s already time to think about the second season. The American network has already renewed the series based on George R.R. Martin’s novels for a second season even before the debut of the first, and now some new details could give us important clues about the plot and characters.
Who won’t be returning in Season 2 and why the plot has already given us a hint
Ira Parker addressed one of the most frequently asked questions about A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The series creator clarified how the next chapter will deal with some key characters introduced in the first season.
In an interview with Variety, the showrunner confirmed that two important noble characters will not be followed independently in the second season, stating: “We work from the bottom up. We follow Dunk’s point of view. Even for minor lords and ladies, we don’t allow ourselves to go behind the scenes into their points of view.“ He then added: ”If anyone will enter or leave Dunk’s world again, I would say probably yes. Westeros is a… yes. Yes. That’s all I’ll say. Yes.”
What changes in the plot compared to the first season

The second season will continue to adapt George R.R. Martin’s novels in chronological order. Parker said: “For the most part, we are following the books. So the first season was ‘The Hedge Knight’. The second season will be ‘The Sworn Sword’. If we get to season three, hopefully it will be ‘The Hedge Knight.’“ The author also confirmed that ”they are going to Dorne. How much of that we cover, I’ll leave that for people who watch season two to find out.”
Regarding the Blackfyre rebellions, Parker said: “The Blackfyre rebellions are part of Dunk and Egg’s lives, I would say to a fairly advanced extent. The second Blackfyre rebellion has a significant impact in one of the books, and of course we hint at it in the first season.” Finally, he concluded: “Basically, we are 15 years away from a major civil war, so there is still a lot of resentment.”
When will A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms 2 be released and where will it be available to stream?
Season 2 of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been officially confirmed by HBO and production is already underway, but no specific release date has been announced at this time. According to the latest previews, the new episodes are expected to arrive in 2027, following a similar pace to the first season.
Like the previous season, the second season will also be available on HBO Max, the main platform for the series.
