Game of Thrones: 5 stories by Martin that could become great TV series

After the success of House of the Dragon and the first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, interest in the world created by George R. R. Martin is back at an all-time high. With numerous projects in development, it’s not hard to imagine that other stories set in Westeros or the rest of the world could be turned into new television series.

    Robert’s Rebellion

At the beginning of the series, Robert Baratheon is already king of the Seven Kingdoms, but the events that brought him to power are only recounted through memories and dialogue. However, the rebellion against the Targaryen dynasty represents one of the most important conflicts in Westeros’ recent history. A series dedicated to this war would allow us to see younger versions of iconic characters such as Eddard Stark and other protagonists of the saga. With epic battles, political intrigue, and betrayals, it would be a perfect story in the style of the original series. However, some secrets related to this period may be revealed in Martin’s books, which is why an adaptation may only come after the conclusion of the literary saga.

    The ancient history of Westeros

Much of the threat in Game of Thrones revolves around the Others, but the series has shown only a small part of their origins. A spin-off set before the arrival of the First Men could explore the world dominated by the Children of the Forest and the ancient creatures that inhabited Westeros. It would be a much more mythological tale, focusing on the continent’s early civilizations and the events that led to the birth of the Seven Kingdoms.

    The Fall of Valyria

One of the most mysterious elements of the saga’s lore is the ancient empire of Valyria, a powerful civilization founded on magic and dragons. Four centuries before the events of the series, the empire was destroyed by a cataclysm known as the “Ruination of Valyria.” A series set in this period could showcase the power of the dragon lords and tell the story of the fall of one of the world’s most advanced civilizations.

The adventures of Brienne of Tarth

One of the most beloved characters in the series is undoubtedly Brienne of Tarth, a warrior played by Gwendoline Christie who has won over audiences with her determination and sense of honor. A spin-off dedicated to her adventures could follow her missions as a knight of the Seven Kingdoms, offering a series rich in duels, journeys, and encounters with new characters. Her personal journey, always fighting against the prejudices and stereotypes of the chivalric world, would also provide a powerful story to tell.

Bran the Builder and the Age of Heroes

Perhaps the most fascinating period in the history of Westeros is known as the Age of Heroes, and especially the legendary figure of Bran the Builder, whom tradition credits with building the gigantic Wall and founding House Stark. A series set in that era could tell the story of the birth of the great houses, the struggle against ancient threats, and the formation of legends that still echo in the world of Game of Thrones. Precisely because relatively little is known about this period, the authors would have great creative freedom in constructing new stories.
