Season 3 of Solo Leveling still hasn’t been announced, but Crunchyroll’s CEO just said what many were hoping to hear

It may not be time yet, but the next Solo Leveling anime seems to be already in the works

Season 3 of “Solo Leveling” remains in limbo. That’s the reality we’ve been facing ever since Sung Jinwoo left us over a year ago with the conclusion of the series’ second season. His journey remains unfinished, so sooner or later we should get a sequel. And Crunchyroll’s CEO has given us the glimmer of hope we need to believe in it.

A-1 Pictures appears to already be working on Season 3 of Solo Leveling

It was in an interview with RadioTimes that Rahul Purini, CEO of Crunchyroll, made the following statements when asked about the third season of the “Solo Leveling” anime: “We don’t have anything to announce, but we’re just as eager as the fans for the next show to arrive. We know the creators are actively working on it, so hopefully they’ll be able to announce something soon.“ This is a sort of ”half-confirmation“ that there will be more ”Solo Leveling” anime… but nothing concrete can be said at this time.

Even so, the key message is clear: even though we don’t have an official announcement, trailer, or anything of the sort, there’s activity going on behind the scenes. That’s something you almost never get to see, yet Purini has given us a glimpse of it. Because while the buzz comes from the revelations, those come after many months of work behind the scenes—work that is, indeed, happening. I also recall that just a few weeks after the second season of “Solo Leveling” wrapped up, the studio dropped some ‘joking’ comments suggesting the anime might not return until 2028. And while nothing says it couldn’t happen in 2027, the truth is that as time goes on, that ‘joke’ is increasingly becoming a realistic estimate.

There are years of “Solo Leveling” ahead

I also think it’s important to note that a Season 3 of “Solo Leveling” won’t be the end of the anime by any means. As of today, after the first two seasons of the anime, the content of just over the first three volumes of the original novel—which was told across eight volumes—has been adapted. In other words, we still have half the story ahead of us… but that’s not all. In addition to “Solo Leveling,” “Solo Leveling: Ragnarok” was also released at the time—a well-received sequel that, given the success of the original anime, will likely be adapted into an anime series in the years to come. The outlook is therefore truly promising for Sung Jinwoo’s fans.

We must also consider that “Solo Leveling” is now a global franchise, so talking only about the anime is an understatement. We’ve already seen the release of video games, and the door is open for further expansions of its universe in the form of novels. Things may be quiet now, but new developments are sure to come sooner or later. Given all this, yes, for now we’ll have to remain patient since nothing has been revealed about Sung Jinwoo’s return. The anime’s third season will happen, and there are even rumors of a possible movie; when there’s so much buzz surrounding such a successful IP, things eventually fall into place. Get ready—the most powerful hunter of all hasn’t had his final say.
