Solo Leveling creator admits to having written this character poorly: “I didn’t write her very well.”

The construction of any serialized story, whether in audiovisual media or through publications, is influenced by external factors or motivations that will always open the door to a wide variety of theories. In Solo Leveling, there are many characters who challenge fans with their personalities, and one of them, who left the anime, had her departure explained by the creator, Chugong.

This character left Solo Leveling in the “wrong” way

In a conversation with fans on a forum, Chu gong delved into the events surrounding the healer Joohee. “To give more details, Joohee was one of the characters representing the victims of the abnormal world,” he explained. “She was originally going to live her life as a college student, but this weak-hearted girl somehow obtained a power that didn’t suit her and ended up in the abnormal world without meaning to.”

Although the girl’s mental health was very fragile, she still had a journey alongside Jinwoo and could have tried to stay by his side, but she possibly couldn’t handle the pressure of this universe full of twists and turns. Realizing the danger she was in, Jinwoo, who “really had feelings for Johohee before they parted ways,” had to make a choice.

At the end of Solo Leveling, Jinwoo’s goal was to protect the world from the war that was to come. This achievement allowed “Joohee to forget her life in the abnormal world and return to living as a normal girl. And Jinwoo, who was able to confirm this and was happy for her,“ reflects the author, who wanted to make the character’s departure more natural, with his desire as a writer more explicit regarding her participation in the whole story. ”That was the message I wanted to convey, but it seems that I didn’t write it well enough for readers to understand that.”

What is the story of Solo Leveling?

Based on the famous South Korean web novel by Chugong, Solo Leveling is an anime that follows a world where humans have magical abilities to fight deadly monsters and protect the human race from annihilation. Sung Jinwoo is a simple hunter with no notable skills or strength, but one day, after surviving a battle that nearly killed him, he is selected for a strange program called System, to be the only one to receive rare abilities, possibly becoming the strongest hunter ever seen.

Jinwoo sets out on a journey while fighting all kinds of enemies, both human and monster, to uncover the secrets of his near death and the true source of his powers.
