During CinemaCon 2026, the first trailer for Evil Dead Burn—also known as The Evil Dead 6—was unveiled, promising exactly the kind of violence and gore we’ve come to expect from the horror franchise… but surprisingly, it also includes a major connection to the past of the saga created by the great Sam Raimi.

Directed by Sébastien Vaniček, director of Infested, the film follows Alice (Souheila Yacoub) as she visits her in-laws after her husband’s death: however, the family reunion takes a hellish turn when her relatives are possessed by bloodthirsty demons. Also screened in theaters in the U.S. before showings of Lee Cronin’s The Mummy—Cronin is the producer of Evil Dead Burn after directing Evil Dead Rise—the trailer unfolds in a single scene, in which a bloodied Alice tries to crawl away from danger while snarling (and levitating!) Deadites hurl corpses at her as if they were rag dolls.

But the key detail is that in the clip—which hasn’t been released online yet—we discover that the house is the same one Ruby’s in from Ash vs. Evil Dead: in the TV series, Ruby (Lucy Lawless) created the Necronomicon, and her house is essentially a central hub in Deadite mythology. Bad news for Alice, huh? Cronin produced the new film alongside Rob Tapert, Sarah Spurway, Jose Cañas, Romel Adam, Bruce Campbell, and Sam Raimi. Luciane Buchanan, Tandi Wright, George Pullar, and Hunter Doohan round out the supporting cast.

Although Lee Cronin’s film The Mummy is rated R in the U.S., the Evil Dead Burn teaser shown to ticket-holding attendees was described as rather tame compared to the one presented at CinemaCon just a few days earlier: On Wednesday, April 15, guests at the Las Vegas event were treated to an alternate trailer featuring a woman waking up in a car with a headrest smashing into her face, another woman drinking from a lit candle, and a man falling face-first onto an open dishwasher filled with knives…

Evil Dead Burn is set to be released on July 10, 2026, and will be followed by the upcoming film Evil Dead Wrath, scheduled for April 7, 2028.
