Seven installments, thirty years, and people still can’t get enough of Ghostface. Scream 7 hit theaters on Friday, February 27, grossing $28.8 million on its opening day and becoming the franchise’s best opening ever. According to data collected by Deadline (still provisional and estimated), by the end of Sunday, the film directed by Kevin Williamson will have grossed approximately $60 million, occupying the top spot in the box office rankings from February 27 to March 1, 2026.
Despite its poor reviews, Neve Campbell’s return to the saga alongside Courteney Cox has encouraged a fairly young segment of the population, which is not conditioned by nostalgia, but is larger than that of Scream VI: the largest group was 25-34 year olds, who accounted for 32% of the audience, while in the previous installment, 41% of the audience at its premiere was between 18 and 24 years old. In total, the 10 most-watched titles in the United States and Canada will gross $110.3 million this weekend, 103% more than in the same period in 2025. There is only one other premiere in this top ten, the concert film Twenty One Pilots: More Than We Ever Imagined, featuring the band playing in Mexico City in February 2025. This title will remain in fourth place with $3.6 million.
Ahead of them are the lively ‘GOAT’ (11.75 million over the weekend—73.7 million dollars accumulated) and ‘Wuthering Heights’ (7 million added to a total of 72.3 million dollars), both in their third week in commercial theaters. Rounding out the top five is another musical experience, ‘EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert’, which is expected to make $3.4 million in three days in its second week. Closing out the top ten is ‘Zootopia 2’, which is holding strong after 14 weeks since its release, but will likely disappear next week.
And next week
On March 6, the US box office will be refreshed with some very interesting titles that could shake up the top. On the one hand, we have ‘The Bride!’, the story of Frankenstein’s monster’s companion, as seen through the eyes of Maggie Gyllenhaal, who wrote the script and directed the film. It stars the star of the moment, Jessie Buckley, alongside Christian Bale.
For younger audiences, Disney/Pixar’s new release, Hoppers, will take over from Zootopia 2. Daniel Chong directs the story of an animal-loving girl who ends up putting her consciousness into a robotic beaver and discovering the mysteries of the animal world. And if you’re looking for something more uncomfortable and disturbing, ‘Good Boy’ (not to be confused with the other ‘Good Boy’, which is rather unimaginative) will be in theaters, starring Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough in the lead roles. This title does not yet have a release date in Spain.
