This Thursday, the team behind the anime Akane-banashi released a new poster and trailer, which not only reveals its release date but also its opening theme song. The anime will begin airing on April 4, 2026. As for the latter, the song is Hitotarashi and is performed by multi-instrumentalist Kuwata Keisuke. It seems that this is his first time participating in Japanese animation.
Kuwata is a Japanese musician, singer, composer, producer, and film director, who is also the leader of the band Southern All Stars. However, he is also part of the Kuwata Band and has collaborated with several others. He has also worked with many people in the Japanese music industry, including Mr. Children, Utada Hikaru, and Yumi Matsutoya, to name a few. In addition to his participation, an interesting detail was revealed.
What’s happening is that TV Asahi, which partly produces the anime Akane-banashi, has revealed that from its premiere date onwards, full episodes will be broadcast free of charge on YouTube. This will be the case in both North America and Latin America. Of course, this is good news for our region, as it will allow more people to watch this series. As for Japan, it will debut on the TV station’s IMAnimation programming block.
Returning to the topic of its YouTube broadcast, it will be on its own channel, Akane-banashi Global. It should be noted that once an episode is broadcast in Japan, it will be available on this service. The latest trailer is currently available with subtitles in English, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. Another piece of information that has been revealed is that the Japan Society will hold the world premiere of the first episode in New York.
That will be on April 1 at 8:00 p.m. EST. The screening will also include unreleased behind-the-scenes footage and a performance by Canadian rakugo artist Katsura Sunshine. Tickets will go on sale on March 2 on the Japan Society website at a price of $22 for members and $28 for non-members. TV Asahi will also have its own presentation at Anime Boston at 7:00 p.m. EST on April 4.
Sunshine will also be there to perform and chat with attendees. We’ll see what else is revealed about the Akane-banashi anime before its release date. This new adaptation of one of Shueisha’s most popular manga is attracting a lot of attention. Thanks to Anime News Network for the details.
