Details about the series and its final episode.
In its early days, the series that expanded George R.R. Martin’s universe aroused the suspicions of ‘Game of Thrones’ fans for several reasons. The short length of the episodes and a more comical and quixotic tone were not entirely convincing. Against all odds, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ has been a huge success, including the season finale.
The first season of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has come to an end, but fans need not despair, as the second season was confirmed before the premiere of the first. The finale of the Dunk and Egg series has repeated the essence of the franchise, with an episode in which things must be reorganized and get back on track in order to welcome the new developments that will unfold in the near future.
The sixth episode focused mainly on Ser Duncan the Tall and Maekar Targaryen, Egg’s father, as they deal with the death of Baelor Targaryen (which occurs in the previous episode). Dunk and Maekar bring this first season to a brilliant conclusion, with the (un)knight regretting not having done more to save Baelor, who was fighting on his behalf in the Trial of Seven.
The young Dunk gives an emotional speech in which he talks about giving “a hand and a foot for Baelor’s life.” He raises the possibility of one day offering them to the kingdom. Indeed, we know that this is the case: in Game of Thrones, Joffrey Baratheon talks about the knight Ser Duncan the Tall, Lord Commander of the Kingsguard.
The future of Dunk and Egg

The aforementioned characters also discuss Egg’s future. Dunk wants the boy by his side to continue his journey as a knight errant, while Maekar wants his son to continue as Dunk’s squire, but settled in the Targaryen residence. In the end, Egg tricks his father into letting him go with Dunk and disappears, much to the prince’s despair.
The final scene of ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ offers us that illustrative image of both protagonists riding off on horseback toward an unknown horizon. In addition, a mysterious credit card evokes all the unknowns: ‘A Knight of the Nine Kingdoms’, which refers to the nine regions into which Westeros is divided. Will the title of the series change? We cannot know yet.
We do know that the second season is scheduled to premiere in 2027 and that it will adapt another short story by R. R. Martin. In addition, another of the questions raised at the end may be explained: Dunk’s relationship with Brienne of Tarth, Jamie Lannister’s escort in Game of Thrones. Brienne could be a descendant of the faithful knight, something that the author of this universe has already vaguely hinted at.
