The third season of Wednesday is already in production. Netflix has shared a first look at the new installment (a very brief one) introducing new characters and confirming the presence of recurring characters from previous seasons. The series, created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, announced in November the signing of Eva Green for the next season. In this first preview, it has confirmed a new star in the cast: Winona Ryder will play Tabitha, which will be a new collaboration with Tim Burton, director and executive producer of the project.
The names that appear in the Netflix announcement and are therefore confirmed for this third installment are, in order of appearance: Jenna Ortega (Wednesday), Catherine Zeta-Jones (Morticia Addams), Luis Guzmán (Gomez Addams), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley), Joanna Lumley (Grandma), Joy Sunday (Bianca), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), Moosa Mostafa (Eugene), Evie Templeton (Agnes), Victor Dorobantu (Cosa), Winona Ryder (Tabitha), Emma Myers (Enid), Hunter Doohan (Tyler), Billie Piper (Capri), Fred Armisen (Uncle Fétido), Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Santiago), Noah Taylor (Cyrus), Kennedy Moyer (Daisy), Oscar Morgan (Atticus), Chris Sarandon (Balthazar), and Eva Green (Ophelia).
Netflix officially confirmed the season in July 2025, although production on the series did not begin until this February. There is still no confirmed release date, but the series is expected to arrive in 2027, with almost no chance of it landing on the platform in 2026, given that filming is expected to last several months and may even be extended due to the demands of visual effects and the volume of scenes
The creators have anticipated that season 3 will explore more family secrets of the Addams family, expand the world of Nevermore, and involve a mysterious figure who could alter the course and tone of the series: Aunt Ophelia, who could be the possible new antagonistic force.
The first season of ‘Wednesday’ became a global phenomenon after its premiere in 2022, with 252 million views and more than 1.7 billion hours watched during its first 91 days on the platform. It managed to position itself as the most-watched English-language series in Netflix history at the time, reaching number 1 in more than 80 countries. Season 2 also had a very strong premiere, although with lower figures than the first season, accumulating 50 million views in its first few days.
