Oscar winner Tom Hanks will star in a new project titled Lincoln in the Bardo, inspired by the 2017 bestseller written by George Saunders. Thanks to the new film, the actor will play American President Abraham Lincoln.
What will the film Lincoln in the Bardo be about?
The project will use a mix of live-action and animation and will also see Tom Hanks involved as a producer. Production will take place in London and the actor will play Lincoln in the live-action segments. The 16th president of the United States is famous for abolishing slavery and leading his nation through the Civil War. The historical figure has been portrayed several times in the cinema, and in 2012 it was Daniel Day-Lewis who played the politician in the film directed by Steven Spielberg, which won him an Oscar.
Saunders will write the screen adaptation of his novel, which will recount one of the most important moments in Lincoln’s life, focusing on his relationship with his son, who died at the age of 11. According to the official description of the project, the film will address themes such as love, empathy, and the human capacity to cope with grief.
