The manga Hone Dragon no Manamusume will be adapted into an anime by studio Doga Kobo. Kadokawa announced on Wednesday that the manga Hone Dragon no Manamusume, known in English as ‘The Skull Dragon’s Precious Daughter‘ and written by Ichi Yukishiro, will be adapted into a television anime. The studio in charge is none other than Doga Kobo, known for its work on series such as Oshi no Ko, Roshidere, and Shiunji-ke no Kodomotachi. That’s just to mention a few of its productions, but it has a huge legacy.
This revelation was accompanied by a poster and an extra illustration drawn by Yukishiro himself. The production team in charge was also revealed. Kuniyasu Nishina, who worked on 86: Eighty-Six, Blue Period, and Oshi no Ko, is directing this animated adaptation. Yuka Yamada, who participated in Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon S, Nina the Starry Bride, and Tokyo Mew Mew New, is handling the scripts, and Tomoya Atsumi is designing the characters.
Atsumi is known for his work on Go-Toubun no Hanayome, Kimetsu no Yaiba, and Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. Daiki Kuribayashi from Kusanagi, 7th Time Loop: The Villainess Enjoys a Carefree Life, and the movie Dragon Ball Super: Broly, as well as Yūki Hatakeyama from Kuro Shitsuji: Midori no Majo Hen and One Piece Film Gold, are in charge of the background art. So, what is the series about? It all starts in a remote forest.
It is the Forest of Waste, a place where all kinds of things are discarded and an old dragon sleeps out his final days, until an abandoned girl suddenly appears before him. The little human is Eve, and despite being only five years old, she has somehow overcome the many dangers that surround them. In an act of compassion, this legendary creature decides to raise her as if she were his own… but his time is quickly running out.
In the manga, as in the anime Hone Dragon no Manamusume/Skull Dragon’s Precious Daughter, five years pass with the girl and the dragon together. He breathes his last breath and leaves her alone. But he is unaware that his daughter is capable of more than he thinks, and their reunion occurs sooner than expected. So now he hopes to improve Eve’s control over her magical abilities before his body gives out.
