The second season of One Piece: The Series took the Straw Hats to the treacherous Grand Line. In the new live-action arc, as Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) gets closer to the treasure of One Piece, more obstacles and dangerous villains cross the crew’s path. However, the journey also introduced them to new and valuable allies.
Among these friends is the adorable Tony Tony Chopper (or just Chopper), who appears in the sixth episode of the new installment and is expected to play a significant role in the upcoming seas crossed by the Going Merry. Especially since the presence of Mikaela Hoover, the actress responsible for the original voice acting and facial motion capture of the character, has been confirmed in the cast of the third season, which is already being filmed.
Who is Tony Tony Chopper and how will he appear in season 3?
Chopper was born as a blue-nosed reindeer who, after eating one of the Devil Fruits, gained the extraordinary ability to change shape as a human-animal hybrid. The crew meets him on Drum Island when Nami (Emily Rudd) is severely injured and needs a doctor. That’s where the Straw Hats meet the reindeer boy, trained on the island to become a healer, and learn more about his moving past. Chopper helps the Going Merry crew defeat the terrible King Wapol (Rob Colletti), who tries to take back the throne of Drum Island by force. Seeing the determination, skills, and, of course, cuteness of his new ally, Luffy invites him to sail with them.
From then on, Chopper officially becomes a member of the Straw Hats and, starting in season 3, which will delve deeper into the Alabasta arc, he will be even more present in the group’s adventures. He acts as the official doctor on board and will develop a sincere friendship with Zoro (Makenyu). There is still no release date for the third season of One Piece: The Series. In the meantime, all episodes of the second season are now available to stream on Netflix.
