The second season of Frieren: Beyond the End of the Journey stands out as one of the best series in the 2026 winter lineup. With only 10 episodes, the second season will conclude in March 2026 after adapting one of the best story arcs in manga history. As Frieren’s journey continues, the anime has gone on hiatus for a week to prepare for the Divine Revolte story arc and will return with episode 6 on February 27. Shortly before the scheduled end of the current season, the series announced another exciting surprise for fans. Frieren’s official website confirms that cast members will appear on March 12, 2026, on the special program ABEMA – Defeat! Divine Skill Revolte.
The episode will air on the channel at 10:00 p.m., one day before the release of episode 8 of the second season. The voice actors for Frieren (Atsumi Tanezaki), Fern (Kana Ichinose), and Stark (Chiaki Kobayashi) will appear during the program and discuss the developments of the second season so far, as well as delve into the latest story arc. In addition, the cast will talk about the appeal of the story and what to expect in the future. The episode will only air on Japanese television, although it is possible that the cast members’ discussions will be shared later.
The anime concluded the “Journey to the North Continues” story arc before the break, in which Frieren and her group meet new people and encounter menacing monsters. The northern lands are still struggling with demon attacks, and the situation will worsen as they approach their destination. The threat of demons is still a major issue, especially in the north, near a spot where the Demon King’s palace once stood.
The anime continues to follow the group’s journey to the Rufen region on the Northern Plateau. The group is given the mission to kill a demon that destroyed a village. They reunite with some old acquaintances and will soon meet Revolte, one of the most powerful characters in the series. The story arc is only six chapters long, so there is a chance that the second season could kick off the Golden Land story arc, even if it won’t be able to adapt it completely.
As for the manga, we recall that in November, an indefinite hiatus was announced due to the poor health of the mangaka. Although both are working on the story during the hiatus, there are still no updates on its return to date.
