With the third episode released on Monday, September 9, the drama “Siren’s Kiss” stars actress Park Min Young, who said she underwent a real change in habits to play the mysterious art auctioneer involved in a series of murders: Seol Ah.
It turns out that Seol Ah’s seemingly perfect life begins to reveal a controversial side as the plot reveals that she may be another victim, or the real culprit in a suspicious case involving the men who have had romantic relationships with her, since all of them ended up dead. According to the actress, upon learning more about the role, her diet underwent a change: she began drinking 3 liters of water a day so that her physique would express the emotional difficulty faced by Seol Ah, a character who, according to Park Min Young, maintains a polished and professional exterior in public, but whose private moments are defined by a deep loneliness.
“Han Seol-ah is a woman who has emotionally stopped nourishing herself. Surrounded by repeated tragedies, she survives on water and alcohol alone,” the actress began explaining in an interview with the Omelete portal. “During filming, I drank almost three liters of water a day and stopped completely as soon as production ended. In the end, I believe this helped express her sharp silhouette and emotional fragility,” she concluded. During the chat, she also said that staying in a darker emotional space “was the right choice for this role,” and that, in addition to physical changes, she also cared about bringing “bolder style choices” to the characterization of the character, who is an expert in the world of art appraisal, curation, and sales.
“While researching the role, I also noticed that many professional auctioneers prefer to dress in bold fabrics, striking colors, and brightly colored gemstones. This inspired me to try more daring style choices than I normally would. In public spaces, I leaned toward strong colors, while in Seol-ah’s private or personal spaces, I mainly used neutral tones and slim silhouettes to reveal her inner world,” she explained.
In addition, in a previous interview with tvN, Park Min Young said that she had to face another impressive situation to play the role: a vocal transformation. “For the first time, I acted using a lower tone of voice, with a slightly whispered quality,” said the actress at the time. The result of Park Min Young’s efforts can be seen in 12 episodes, which are released weekly on Mondays and Tuesdays, distributed in Brazil by Prime Video. Today, three episodes are already available for streaming, with the rest arriving on the following dates:
