The finale of The Night Agent Season 3 has left fans speechless, as is customary with this Netflix political thriller, which has already become one of the most popular shows worldwide and has been available for less than 24 hours. When Agent Sutherland chooses a mission, we all know it will be much more challenging and dangerous than the character initially imagines. This time, his job was to find out who was behind the theft of sensitive information from FinCEN, or the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network.
The problem, of course, is that a conspiracy is uncovered in which a US network is financing terrorism and members of the country’s highest authorities could be involved. Just another day in the life of Peter Sutherland, right? Throughout the episodes, the twists and turns come thick and fast. From the first lady’s fraudulent business dealings to secure her husband’s election, to the revelation that Monroe, whom we met in season 2, is the father of Isabel (the journalist who wants to expose the conspiracy), to the president’s decision to have Monroe killed to prevent his secrets from coming to light.

However, none of this is enough to ensure that justice will be served on this occasion. The ending of The Night Agent: Season 3 is certainly not what viewers expected, especially after two seasons in which, although not everything ended happily, it felt as if all the protagonist’s work had been worthwhile. After it came to light that the president and his family had used Monroe’s services to launder money, instead of ending up in jail, the commander-in-chief pardons himself and does the same for his wife before the Senate confirms his conviction. They get off scot-free, which shouldn’t really surprise us…
As for Freya Myers, the woman behind the banking operations used to launder money and finance terrorism, who told the media everything, she is the only one who ends up paying for her crimes, we could say… While watching the first family flee from a bar, the hitman she had previously hired, and whom she had threatened for not doing his job, shows up and poisons her drink. And Peter finally decides to take a break and temporarily leaves the special agents unit. It probably won’t be for long, but it will be long enough for him to deal with the conspiracies that lie ahead.
